Our services

If you consider exporting wine to the Netherlands and Belgium, Translation Services Sin Fronteras is your partner. We translate all your content related to wine and grape vine cultivation, such as brochures, tasting reports, press releases, wine reviews, wine tourism programmes, oenological and viticultural content, wine(making) books, wine magazines, etc. We keep track of your translations, which means that terms are translated consistently throughout all your printed and online documents. Wine related texts can be delivered as Word files, Excel sheets, Powerpoint presentations, coded websites (in HTML, PHP, ASP etc.) or graphical formats (Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD/CAM). Customers with high volume documents often keep track of their translations with Translation Memories. Translation Services Sin Fronteras works with industry leading computer assisted translation packages, like SDL Trados Studio, CafeTran or MemoQ.

You only have one chance to make a first impression. This holds true for tasting wines as well as for the presentation of your brand to the world. At Translation Services Sin Fronteras we both check the translated material against the original text, and we review the texts according to your company guidelines. We will go that extra mile for you to assure that your material is as good as your wine and your terroir. As a rule of thumb, rates for proofreading are set at about 30-40 percent of the translation rate.

Whether you are planning to visit one of the major European wine trade fairs like ProWein or MegaVino, or one of the smaller ones like Gastvrij Rotterdam, quality interpreting services in the world of wine are hard to find. Translation Services Sin Fronteras facilitates your dealings with potential customers at conferences, meetings, courses, negotiations and interviews. Our services include interpretation during wine trade fairs, visits to wineries, vineyards and wine houses.

What else do we provide?

Translation of texts and terminology about winemaking and viticulure requires a good knowledge of wines and grapevine production, the use of terms, and the specific characteristics of the languages concerned. Dutch is a language with lots of nouns which can easily be shaped combining two or more elements. Spanish and Portuguese contain many verbs and have a particular subtle use of tenses, while the use of nouns is often somewhat more limited. English is rich in concepts and incorporates new concepts with particular ease and speed. Translation of enological terms into Dutch, from concepts or verbs into nouns, is not a straightforward process.

Wine labels and PowerPoint slides have two things in common: limited space and a first chance to grab the attention of your clients. Graphical presentations usually offer limited space for text. It is extremely important that a translator knows how to fit the translation in the provided space, as well as to adapt that space (in Illustrator, PowerPoint or InDesign). Translation Services Sin Fronteras assures that your message gets accross.

Translation Services Sin Fronteras provides free translation of research results and press releases for a select number of clients in wine related industries. Please contact us if you are interested in these services and the conditions that apply…

About the owner

After finishing my studies at Wageningen University (BSc Agricultural Sciences, MSc Irrigation & Water Management) I have lived for more than 15 years in South and Central America, where I learned to speak Spanish and Portuguese fluently. In 2004 I have set up a small language school, where I taught Spanish to individual travellers. From 2006 I am a full-time translator, specializing in technical subject matters.
